Tuesday's Tute: Water Bottle Bag Re-Post

Water bottles get a bit heavy, especially when carrying several in my purse or backpack.  Why carry everyone's, when they could carry their own in this cute and easy to make bag.  I made these for my children three years ago.  They don't look as pretty now as they do in this picture, but they have been put to good use.  All you need is a wash cloth and grossgrain ribbon.  You can add applique and trim as you like.  Our ribbon strap is long enough to fit across the body so it doesn't slip off of an active preschooler's shoulder.
Happy Sewing!

  1. Debbie,
Just wanted to let you know that we made these last night as a VBS craft. Our theme is Soldiers in God's Army. We used tan washcloths from the dollar store, brown or green ribbon. Ladies sewed the pouch beforehand. The kids decorated them with permanent markers. It was a huge success.

    2. Sorry no pictures to share, Debbie. I am very low tech. I couldn't even figure how to add my name so I'm posting as anonymous.

After this success, I am playing with measurements to make a holder from a small towel for my DH's Nalgene bottle. He likes his water cold, but the bottle sweats too much. The terry cloth of a towel will absorb that.

    3. Yes, it absorbs well. I'm glad you're having a fun and useful time w/this tutorial.
