Well, it's hard to believe it's been a little more than a year since SquigglyTwigs Designs was begun. There are many, many independent pattern designers out there. We want to be the best and be known as the best. The way to become the best is to be open to critique. It's hard to get honest critiques. We've tried being reviewed, and that has gotten us some critique, but reviewers really want to be nice, too.
We're going to try a contest and see if that gets us anywhere. This one will be easy to participate in. All you need to do is sew or have sewn one of our patterns (even a free one) and leave us a critique. (The pants class is excluded, as it isn't meant to be a pattern, nor is it written to the level of definition of our patterns. It's more like a tutorial.).
If you haven't purchased, why? Leave a comment about this for an entry.
We want to improve and be the best. Please help us to do this and we'll give you a pattern...any pattern you want.
To enter: leave a comment of a critique of a pattern OR
tell us why you haven't purchased, what could we do to change that
We'll do a random draw on Monday, April 19th @ 9:00 am ET.
Please be honest...we're ready to take it and make your comments work to make SquigglyTwigs Designs the best independent design firm around.
Make certain we have a way to contact you. If we can't contact you, we can't tell you you've won and will have to redraw. :)
Thank you and Happy Sewing!
Debbie

Happy Valentine's Day: Allie's Quilt Skirt Giveaway--Extended
As a quick pattern description, the skirt has a solid color yoke with an elastic waist. It has gathered tiers made of 5" squares, and embellished with trims within the squares and pompoms along the bottom. This skirt was designed by my daughter. It is her first design and we are quite proud. The shirt she is wearing with it was made from out Easy Knit Top/Dress pattern. The flower clip in her hair is in our tutorial section.
To win the quilt skirt e-pattern all you have to do is comment. There are a few other ways you can get more entries also. If you do any of the extra entries, make sure you post a seperate comment about each of them. The winner will be announced on Monday at 5:00 pm ET. The winner will need to email us at SquigglyTwigs to claim their prize. I'll post our email in the winner's post on Monday.

Christmas Giveaway Contest
Merry Christmas to you all. I hope this post finds everyone enjoying their family preparations for the fast approaching holiday. We're sewing, sewing, cooking, and having a whole bunch of fun here.
The children and I have many, many of the presents and outfits for Christmas this year. Some of the things were made from current patterns and others from new things coming in 2010.
We'd love to have a little fun and give away some patterns in the process, so we're having a contest, and giving you all a chance(s) to win a pattern of your choice. Five patterns will be given away to 5 participants. I'll draw from the comment numbers on Monday at 12:00 Noon ET.
It's easy to enter:
If you already own a SquigglyTwigs Pattern, here is what you can do to enter.
1. Post a picture of something(s) you've made in the SquigglyTwigs in Action flickr group. Then, tell me you did in a comment to this post.
Or, if you own a pattern and haven't sewn it yet...tell me your plans for it in a comment.
Within your comment, make sure you tell me which pattern you'd like to have.
If you have yet to get a SquigglyTwigs Pattern, you can:
1. Choose one you like and tell me why and how you'd use it in a comment to this post.
After you've done #1, you can get an extra entry for a comment about each of these....blogging the contest, facebooking, etc., e-grouping about the contest. Make sure to post a comment about each thing you do, as the winners will be chosen by random comment number draw.
Just in case the winner already owns all of the current patterns (some people do), they will get to choose a future pattern.
I can't wait to see the photos in the flickr group, and read about your ideas for sewing with SquigglyTwigs Designs, inspirating ways to use SquigglyTwigs are always fun to see.
Merry Christmas!

New Pattern: Twirl Skirt
This skirt pattern is designed to be easy to fit and quick to assemble, yet stylish. It has a top yoke with an elastic waist, and a bottom band to allow both an easy fit and some fabric contrast.
By having control over the width and length of the skirt, and the fabric options for the yoke and band, you can create any look you can imagine. We used Flower Power by Jennifer Paganelli in this Twirl Skirt and Peasant Shirt. With the sizing formula you can create a twirl skirt for yourself or your child.
This skirt looks great paired with the Pretty Peasant Shirt, as pictured. Oh, and the skirt really does twirl. My little girl has tried it out many times. lol!
I also made a coordinating Peasant Dress out of the yellow print, with a blue print tie, for myself. We wore our coodinating outfits to a lady's tea and will wear them to church on Mother's Day. Coordinating outfits for Mother's Day is a "mommy thing" for me. And, yes, I'm working on the mommy sized pattern of the Pretty Peasant Dress for you all, too.
Lastly, don't forget we have another contest going on with our friend Penny Raine. The details are in the previous post.

And The Winner Is....
Thanks to all of you who helped get the word out. Now a few more people know about SquigglyTwigs, hopefully they'll get excited about sewing for their family.
We have a three way tie. So I'll give away 3 patterns. Lori, Daughter of the King, and Sandy may each choose a pattern, current or future, of their choice for free. Just let me know when you want to claim it and which one it is. I'll then send you the free download link.
Thanks again. Keep telling your friends, please. I just know there are more mamas who would love to sew the easy way, and teach their daughters, too.

Ribbons and Bows Jumpers For Sale

I'm going to add another piece to our business. In limited quantity, I'm going to make the Ribbons and Bows Jumper to sell. It has small floral embroidery along the top and bottom edges of the skirt ribbon. I tried to get a photo of the embroidery, but in order to zoom close enough my camera seems to blurr. I've had so many people say that their daughter would love to wear this, but they're not going to sew it, so I decided to give this a try.
We're featuring Sis Boom Basics by Jennifer Paganelli in the Ribbons and Bows Jumpers. This is 100% cotton fabric and honestly doesn't need an iron. It washes great. I wash it in cold and then dry it slightly and hang it up to finish drying. It may need a shake after pulling from the dryer, but that's all.
The cost of the dress is $20 plus $5 shipping to anywhere in the US. The dress pictured is a size 8. It measures 28" from the top of the shoulder to the hem. You can pay through Paypal. Post a comment with your interest, and then I'll give you instructions on how to pay.
We won't be making very many...I simply don't have the time. My little girl still needs Spring and Summer clothing made and she wants some of the SisBoom Fabric, too.
My little girl is very excited to have helped create a dress that another little girl may wear.

And don't forget....the pattern contest. You can read about how to enter in the post below. It ends Friday. Someone is going to win a pattern of their choice...now or to claim in the future.
